Services Provided

Site Appraisals

We provide a broad-based appraisal service for potential development sites taking into account flood risk, sewerage and other drainage outfalls, allowable discharge limits and highway authority requirements.

Highway, sewerage and private drainage design

We provide in-house design services for roads and sewerage and private drainage, particularly full design packages to developers in obtaining Section 38 Highways Act 1980 highway adoption agreements and Section 104 Water Industry Act 1991 sewer adoption agreements. The design of pumping installations and surface water flow attenuation schemes forms part of our design service also, embracing whenever possible Sustainable Drainage Systems.

Where necessary we design public sewer diversions and Section 278 highway improvements required to facilitate your development.

Flood risk assesments & advice

Planning Policy Statement 25: Development and Flood Risk (PPS25), now sets out Government policy on development and the possibility of associated flood risk.

We provide guidance and advice as to how PPS25 affects the planning of your development, providing, if required, Flood Risk Assessments specific to your particular project.

This work incorporates, if required, the estimation of river flows and flood levels in accordance with government agency requirements.

Follow this  Link  to The Environment Agency homepage where you can check online if your site is at risk of flooding and this Link  to an online copy of PPS25

Wastewater treatment

We are able to design and specify sewage and wastewater treatment facilities for your home, new residential, commercial, industrial or other premises.

Discharge licences to sewer and watercourse

We can provide advice and service in obtaining, on your behalf, statutory licences for trade effluent discharges

or surface water discharges to sewers and watercourses, submitting supporting calculations and technical details as required.

Hydraulic assessment of structures connected with new developments

We are able to undertake hydraulic assessments and modelling of existing bridges, weirs, culverts, river and watercourse channels, together with impact assessments of new bridges, culverts etc upon your development.

Design & submission of river & watercourse improvement works

On occasion your proposed development may impact upon existing rivers and watercourses to the degree where improvement works are required. We are able to design and specify such works, submitting details for approval by the government agency.

Other Civil and Structural Engineering Designs

On selected projects we can offer civil and structural engineering design solutions including the use of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and other building forms.

Professional Opinion and Advisory Services.

It is our practice policy whenever possible to have technical engineering matters of sewerage, flood risk and defence, water quality, and other road and sewer-related issues agreed with the appropriate agencies as the design process proceeds. However, there are occasions when it is necessary for issues to be subjects for consideration at Public Inquiries into Planning and Related Appeals. Within the practice there is over 40 years experience of acting in such circumstances on sewerage, land drainage, site remediation and reclamation and pollution prevention issues and on other civil and structural engineering issues.
